Energy Efficiency

More than 50% of the energy produced in the United States is wasted somewhere along the line, from production and distribution to consumption. Our goal is to maximize economy-wide investment in energy efficiency. Focus areas include energy use in communities and the industrial sector.

We are working in the Midwestern region and in Minnesota to increase energy savings in the industrial sector and to improve the policy and regulatory climate for combined heat and power.

We work directly with cities and a wide range of stakeholder groups to increase the private investment in energy efficiency in the commercial sector through local policies, technical assistance, and new financing mechanisms.

We are also working with the Midwest’s grid operator on better market rules that treat demand response and energy efficiency as a bona fide option for meeting electricity demand.
