Prorok Joins Great Plains Institute

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Great Plains Institute (GPI) President & CEO Rolf Nordstrom announced today that Matt Prorok has joined GPI as an electricity sector policy associate.
“Matt’s work will focus on the development of electric transmission infrastructure and markets to enhance renewable energy development. His background in engineering and sustainability makes him a great fit for our team,” Nordstrom said.
Prorok will work with Great Plains Institute Vice President Brendan Jordan to help support various electricity sector projects.
“We’re excited to have Matt join GPI and work with us on our electricity grid programs,” Jordan said. “GPI continues help advocate for market reforms to increase investment in renewable energy, demand response and energy storage and to help shape the development of transmission plans that analyze the impacts of environmental policies and high penetrations of clean energy on the Midcontinent electric grid.”
Prorok holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in earth systems from Penn State University. Prorok also recently earned a master’s degree in science, technology and environmental policy from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. His work at the University of Minnesota focused on greenhouse gas emissions attributable to electric vehicles in Minnesota.
